The renewal course is for students who have a current BLS certification. The American Heart Association requires an up-to-date Provider Manual. Therefore, if you do not bring the most recent Provider Manual to class you will have to purchase one to receive your card.

The American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) Course reflects the 2015 Guidelines Update for CPR and ECC. Above all, it teaches both single-rescuer and team basic life support skills for use in both prehospital and in-facility environments. In addition, this course focuses on high-quality CPR and team dynamics.

Lesson 1: Course Introduction - 5 minutes

Lesson 2: 1-Rescuer Adult BLS - 30 minutes

Lesson 3: 2-Rescuer Child BLS - 35 minutes

Lesson 4: Team Dynamics - 21 minutes

Lesson 5: Infant BLS - 40 minutes

Lesson 6: Relief of Choking - 9 minutes

Lesson 7: Special Considerations - 12 minutes

Lesson 8: Local Protocol Discussion - 20 minutes

Lesson 9: Conclusion - 5 minutes

Lesson 10: Exam - 25 minutes

Lesson 11: Remediation - 15 minutes

Training Details

The American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) Course reflects the 2015 Guidelines Update for CPR and ECC. Above all, it teaches single-rescuer and team basic life support skills for use in both prehospital and in-facility environments. In addition, this course focuses on high-quality CPR and team dynamics.

In the Classroom Training option, students will participate in simulated clinical scenarios and learning stations. Students will work with an AHA BLS Instructor to complete BLS skills practice and testing. After that, students will complete a written exam.
